ECSA required for all variables in a single IOA Variable database

You can estimate the ECSA required by a single IOA Variable database by calculating the number of columns, multiplied by the number of rows, multiplied by the average size of a variable, as explained above. To this figure, you must add a figure obtained by adding 1 to the number of columns, and multiplying that result by 256.

Note: When calculating the average size, either consider the empty slots as zero length, or do not count them in the average but multiply the (higher) average without the empty slots by a factor < 1, to represent the slot occupancy percentage.
