ECSA Usage (Above the 16 MB Line)

The table describes the Control‑O components that use ECSA.

Table 185 ECSA Usage (Above the 16 MB Line)

Component

Size

Description

Subsystem executor

250 K

Wait elements

160 K

By default, the Control-O monitor allocates 20 wait elements of 8 K each, in internal control blocks called PNDs. The number of allocated PND buffers can be overridden with the WAITPR# parameter of the Control statement in CTOPARM. For further information on the PND# parameter see the INCONTROL for z/OS Installation Guide: Installing and NCONTROL for z/OS Installation Guide: Customizing.

Work Buffers

480 K

By default, the Control-O monitor allocates 20 work buffers of 24 K each, in internal control blocks called WSCs. The number of allocated WSC buffers can be overridden with the WSC# parameter of the Control statement in CTOPARM. For further information on the WSC# parameter see the NCONTROL for z/OS Installation Guide: Installing and NCONTROL for z/OS Installation Guide: Customizing.

Rules

50 K

This amount assumes 500 rules and an average of 100 bytes per rule.

XES preallocated buffers

3000 K

Preallocated buffers for XES operations. (The value of 3000K is appropriate for a system with 4 CPUs. The approximate value for 8 CPUs is 6000K, for 16 CPUs 12,000K, and so forth.)

Total

3940 K

For a system with 4 CPUs.
