Performance Issues

Running the XAE facility can impact INCONTROL product performance. In some cases, the impact may be negligible. For a description of issues of impact, see Using an XAE Type 1 Database and Using an XAE Type 2 Database.

Using system-managed rebuild or duplexing rebuild for the XAE structures will have the following performance impacts:

• When the structures are duplexed, each update of a variable updates both copies of the structures.
• During the system-managed rebuild or duplexing rebuild process, the structures are inaccessible. Requests to access variables will be suspended until the rebuild process ends.
• If Control-O or CMEM is started or stopped when a system-managed process is performed on its structures, Control-O or CMEM initialization or termination will be suspended until the system-managed process ends and the structures are accessible again.
