Variant Name

Indicates the variant for the specified ABAP program or Archiving Object.

Usage	Optional for SAP R/3 jobs. Mandatory for SAP Data Archiving Write jobs.
Availability	Add ABAP window in Create job mode Write job mode in the SAP Data Archiving panel

Valid Values	1-14 characters
Case Sensitive	Uppercase only
Invalid Characters	None
Variable Name	%%SAPR3-STEP-S<nn>-VAR-NAME

Available for SAP R/3 and SAP Data Archiving jobs.

NOTE: You can click Load to generate and display a list of variants available for the selected ABAP program. The asterisk * can be used as a wildcard to filter the search. When a variant is set for an ABAP program, the following buttons are enabled:

Copy: Enables the creation of a new variant based on the properties of an existing variant. The new variant is created as soon as you confirm its name.
Edit: Enables you to modify the values of the various variant parameters.
To apply these parameter values click OK. To keep the variant’s original parameter values, click Undo Changes.
The changes in the values of the variant parameters are only performed during job run time.

The Copy, Show and Change buttons only work if you use XBP 2.0 functionality or the Extended functionality in an XBP 1.0 system with the Control-M Function Modules installed.
