Tracking number H197: Resolves issues for the Websphere application server hosting CDM applications

BMC Software is alerting users of the CONTROL-SA/Directory Manager and Calendra Directory Manager version 4.5 products to a problem. This flash describes a solution for CONTROL-SA/Directory Manager and Calendra Directory Manager (CDM) to prevent the problem from occurring. Problem

Web applications, including CDM applications, deployed on Websphere fail to start due to an application server issue. Since May 18, 2006, Websphere could not restart with IBM JVM 1.3.1.

The following symptoms have been reported to BMC Software Customer Support:

Websphere server fails to restart. CDM applications hosted on the server fail to restart. Digital certificates are expired.

Solution

BMC Software is distributing the following bulletin released by IBM on IBM JVM 1.3.1 for Websphere.

Problem Identification

To verify whether your Websphere application server is affected by the faulty IBM JCE component, visit the IBM Support site.

Resolution

If your IBM JCE version is unaffected, then no action is required.

If you determine that the IBM JCE build level is affected by the certificate expiration, BMC Software recommends that you upgrade the IBM JCE component immediately by getting the latest IBM JCE package from IBM Tivoli product support team. For more information, see the IBM Support site.

Once the IBM JCE is upgraded, your Websphere server can be restarted. Your Web applications, including CDM applications, will restart too.
